My Journey and Current Goals

I created my business as a side hustle/hobby in March 2013, inspired by my love of baking and the example of my mother, who had been self employed since before I was a thought in her mind. The first three years was a mixture of trial and error whittling down what my strengths and desires were and find my niche. Then while watching Cupcake Wars, I saw the only pair I had ever discovered that had a bakery that specialized in alcohol-infused cupcakes. That inspired me to start looking into that particular area and I found a whole new world of baking! When I added the Cupcakes to the end of Delectable Delights Cupcakes in 2016, I had decided to focus solely on taking spirits and cocktails and finding ways to incorporate into a cupcake and it just clicked.

DDC was born

In April 2018, I was hit with a giant blow after losing my job just the month before. My mother, who was my biggest fan and loudest cheerleader was suddenly called back to the heavenly garden on the other side. I took the next year off while dealing with the fallback of that and decide if DDC was what I truly wanted to do and continue to pursue. As I came to terms with everything and imagining my life without her and without my business, I realized that I couldn’t imagine life without my cupcakes. If I didn’t take the mantle back up and continue building, I would be disappointed in myself for not following my dream and she would be disappointed as well.

At the same time, I was given the chance to save the home I grew up in but it came with a lot of challenges of having a 84-year old home that hasn’t been brought up to code in a long time. In the midst of that battle, I realized that it would be the perfect opportunity to do what I had been talking with my mom about and have a kitchen that would be perfect for working and developing my business. Especially since there aren’t any easily assessible commissary or shared kitchens on my side of town and I can no longer transport anything from location to location if I were to travel the distance to one. Why not have the perfect controlled space in my own home?

My future dream kitchen down to the studs and the concrete slab floor

So the plan began, to tear everything down to the studs and concrete slab in the house and build everything out right the first time. Construction started in August 2020 in he midst of COVID, however due to severe loss of income and the inability to find additional income in the meantime, it had to come to a standstill by the end of September. Now the house sits 75% demoed and haven’t been able to move forward. So my dream has been put on hold once more. Please help me finally realize my dream of getting the tools and the setting needed to have the homey yet commercial kitchen of my dreams so I can continue to produce and develop my alcohol-infused cupcakes and desserts. Thank you in advance for your support!!
